Director, producer, educator.

Deborah Reinisch is a director, producer, and film educator whose work spans network television, public television, independent film, and the classroom. She directed the PBS American Playhouse film Andre’s Mother, written by Terrence McNally and named Outstanding Television Movie by the National Board of Review, and went on to direct episodic television including Bull, Madam Secretary, NCIS: New Orleans, Early Edition, VR.5, Sisters, and thirtysomething.

Before directing television, Reinisch built an early career in production with Joel and Ethan Coen, serving as first assistant director on Blood Simple and first assistant director and associate producer on Raising Arizona. Her short film Sure Thing, adapted from David Ives and starring Luke Kirby and Gia Crovatin, won the CINE Golden Eagle and screened widely on the festival circuit, from the Cannes Short Film Corner to Palm Springs ShortFest.

Reinisch has taught directing, production, and film history at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, Brooklyn College / Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, Columbia University, and OLLI at Berkshire Community College. She also curates and introduces the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center’s 100 Years of Movies series.
